How Can the Mazda CX-9 Help You Avoid Rear-End Collisions?

City driving is more dangerous than you think. Roughly 60% of all front-end impacts happen in the city. Though these impacts occur at low speeds, the damage is still impressive, often adding up to ten thousand dollars or more. To minimize the likelihood of a city front-end collision, Mazda added a sensing program that detects the presence of an object in front of you.

The Smart City Brake Support system activates at speeds less than 20 mph. A laser mounted on the windshield and two ultrasonic sensors mounted on the front bumper team up to detect the speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you. When an imminent collision is detected, the system applies the brake to avoid or lessen the impact.
